General Information
Access to and use of
the Harvard-Thorndike General Clinical Research Center is regulated by the NIH
guidelines for General Clinical Research Centers. These guidelines describe the
mission of the center, our protocol review obligations and regulatory
requirements for how we classify study activity and give the administrative
staff guidance on supported activities and covered costs.
In order to use the
GCRC, all protocols must be reviewed by the GCRC’s Scientific Advisory
Committee, which meets once per month. The GCRC Scientific Advisory Committee
reviews the study design and scientific merit of all protocols to be conducted
on the GCRC to ensure that they are well designed and of the highest caliber.
For approved
investigator-initiated (A) protocols, the GCRC grant is available to
support:
For
industry-initiated (D) protocols, investigators will be appropriately charged for
services provided, based on established costs approved by the GCRC Scientific
Advisory Committee.
The guidelines, policies and
procedures for investigator use of the BIDMC GCRC can be found in our
Investigator Manual.
The forms for investigator use of the BIDMC GCRC can be found in our
