| Neural
destruction in the brain associated with HIV infection may lead
to global cortical dysfunction known as HIV encephalopathy. This
syndrome is characterized by a general decline in cognitive skills,
behavioral capacity, and muscular coordination. Early manifestations
include difficulties with short-term memory and concentration.
Combination antiretroviral therapy may result in symptomatic improvement. |
