The Medical Center is committed to the development and application
of molecular medicine, and we are continuing to expand our clinical and basic research programs.
Research programs include: cancer research, clinical and basic AIDS research, neurological
research in a variety of areas including Behavioral Neurology, Sleep Disorders, Epilepsy, Neuro-oncology,
Genetics, and Cerebrovascular Disease, surgical research investigating the fundamental
biological and clinical questions underlying disease, cardiovascular research, and women’s
health research. Core Services include a Genomics Core, a Transgenic Animal Facility, which
provides transgenic and gene deficient mice to investigators, a DNA Sequencing Facility and a
Bio-Informatics Core that is available to assist researchers with analyses of recombinant DNA
and protein structure.
